Chernobyl

Today is the 20th aniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. People are remembering their loved ones, whom they lost, in different ceremonies held all over Ukraine. Read the Reuters coverage on this.

Along with the memories, the radioactivity from this disaster, will remain for ages.

    Satya this ones for you:

Men always want to be a woman's first love. That is their clumsy vanity. Women have a more subtle instinct about things. What (women) like is to be a man's last romance.

    Take care and enjoy!

EU - Yeah this shall stand as living testimony to the evil side of scientific achievement.

Sher - That was a good point

Pratyush - Yeah humanity will never get over this. Atleast this was accident but what to do with the threats of Nuclear catastrophe by design?

I read your article on Chernobyl that you wrote earlier.

    good research.

but tell me, if you know, why was the plant closed in 2000 i.e after 4 years. Thats too long a period.
and is there any research going on, on what are the effects on life there?

Thanks Koi. Yeah the plant was closed after 14 years of accident cause there were other reactors. Those reactors were operational and producing electricity. The one which had the accident was 4th reactor. It was more of international pressure which forced Ukraine to shut Chernobyl down.

I am not sure of research but lot of UN funded projects and studies are going on.
