Proud to be an Indian

Mumbai, 11th July 2006, terrorists killed 200 common citizens of India in cold blood. They were murdered in series of seven blasts, while traveling on the commuter trains during the evening rush hour. Many families lost their sole earning member and their loved ones forever. World sympathizes with the grieving Indians. Outraged at this heinous, diabolic, hideous and cowardly attack, the head of the Indian government addresses the nation and promises to take action. Next day all blog websites are blocked in India!

I commend Indian government for taking the strictest possible 'action' for killing its hapless citizens. There was no option left for Indian government, particularly after no terrorist organization came forward to claim responsibility. When there is no one, with whom they could start peace talks ? They did that(peace talk) last time, when Bangladesh attacked Indian border and carried Indian soldiers like dogs, after slaughtering them.

Indian government should further contemplate bringing criminal charges on all those traveling on trains that day, including the dead. It was their fault to be traveling on train and getting killed. After all, suicide is a criminal offense in India.

If one thinks that Indian intelligence agencies are doing nothing then this is absolutely false. In the latest news, Indian intelligence and top security agencies, successfully hunted the crew of Air India after bottles of Scotch Whisky were found missing from the flight of Indian 'Prime Minister'. A flight engineer was booked for stealing them. Indian intelligence is receiving praises from across the world for this highly successful mission.

Amidst all this terrorist attacks, Indian should not lose its focus on economic front. India, being the pioneer of outsourcing industry should lead it from front. They should outsource its defence forces to Maldives. This would provide highly effective for the economy of Maldives, and full credit should go to our first ‘economist’ Prime Minister in decades. The total defence spending of Indian government is around 12.9 billion US dollars more than that of Russia, which spent around 11.4 billion USD (year 2002 figure). This spending by Indian government on defence has increased since then. Even if half of this money goes to Maldives then its economy will hugely benefit. The other half could be used by India for the foreign trips(with extra Scotch bottles) necessary for ‘those’ peace talks. The only strict commitment Maldives would be required to make, is to compulsorily provide soldiers in time, for the parade on the streets of New Delhi on 26th January. In fact, to increase the utilization of tax payer’s money, Indian government should seriously consider having two parades per year instead of usual one. I am sure every tax paying Indian would be highly pleased with the concern of the government for their money.

Proud to be an Indian!

Your annoyance at certain issues and at the same time the feeling of "proud to be an Indian" is very well justified.

    A very insightfull blog indeed.

I still don't understand the rationale behind blocking blogspot. it seems like someone had to do something drastic to make it look like they were doing something. and this is what they did. The ministry of telecom (or whoever was behind it) owes the country an explanation.

Thats a really sarcastic take on things :)

Like Mowgli rightly said, India has proved to be a weak state in the past few years.

Abt blogspot ban, if this article is to be believed, they wanted to ban view blogs but someone in the govt. must have decided that its easy to ban all blogspot and typepad blogs instead.

I am still able to access all blogspot and typepad blogs tho. :)

Sharda - More than annoyance, I am totally frustrated with our government. But this is nothign new, isn't it?

EU - I feel the same. May be I am not in India, so the feeling is more intense. Abroad we are more attached to our country.

Ipanema girl - You have hit the nail. The blogs were banned just to display some action from the part of government. Little did they realise that they have only embarrassed themself. Yeah, those inept, corrupt, inefficient and useless bureacrats could not think anything better.

Mowgli - Thanks. Yeah India has historically been a weak state. Remember even those plunderers from a small country like Turkey used to come and loot India.

The amassing of troops at border, and doing nothing, removed even the 'benefit of doubt' India had about its will power to do something. That episode, wrote on the stone, India's position as weak state.

Even that action, which Indian governmental system, might term as 'drastic' was taken only because 'politicians' came directly in the line of fire. Had it been common Indian, nothing more than a vapid speech would have been done.

Raj - Well, I am ashamed to be an Indian due to all this. They could not catch one person responsible for the blast, and so they banned blogs !!! I don't have words to express my frustration.

To add insult to the injury, all that Indian government was concerned was to find who stole Scotch Whisky bottle from PM's flight. Unbelievable !!

I am not going to comment on the reason for the ban as we are in no position to adjudge that, but the way it is implemented is odd...

Let as assume that indeed the terrorists are using blogs to pass info, it pops up two questions...
    1. Who is this moron of a terrorist who is using a blogs to convey info?
    2. If the intelligence agencies have indeed know that blogs are being used zeroing in on them should be relatively easy instead of doing a blanket ban...

I was feeling quite smug when there was a ban on this in Pakistan some time back. I patted myself for being from a country where freedom of thought and speech were respected. India has all along portrayed that it is more mature than Pakistan but this event is an eye opener I guess...

And yes... I am able to view, post and comment on blogspot

i didnt realise there was any ban .. when did this happen?

  • At 3:23 PM, Blogger greensatya said…

Scipio - Well it is beyond every benchmark of foolishness to stop the blogs for terrorist attack. But our intelligence and government agencies could do nothing more. So blogs are banned.

Exactly my thoughts with respect to blogger ban in Pakistan and in India.

Indian intelligence consists of bureacrats, who want comfortable posting in their later years, or politicans doling out rewards to their 'stooge' bureacrats, or those who want to make frequent foreign trips with their families. So nothing much should be expected from them. They won't even be able to catch a dog in their backyard.

Good that your ISP is not blocking them.

Mowgli - Yeah, many ISPs have banned blogs in India on instructions from government of India. Which is your ISP ?

Koi - Maldives, bechara chota sa country hai, with no great means of growing its GDP(though, I am sure, its per capita GDP would be more than that of India). So Maldives would benefit.

Pakistan , hmm, why does it need money ? It is already such a fortunate country with full blessings of the world's only superpower. You have a person of spine as your President.

And you do not want the characterstics of Indian army in Pakistani defence forces. I admire the courage of Pakistani army, they have displayed it time and again. Not like Indian armed forces who are used ONLY for parade.
(BTW, consider taking out some time to reply to comments on your blog)

Heather- God knows why they do that ? They are doing that across the world and if you ask them, they will always have some justification.

Twisted DNA - Thanks ! Glad to be appreciated by twisted folks :P

Indian armed forces do more than just parade.

If you are raged by the current alcohol, pulses scam done by a few unscrupulous men or the submarine deal or the woman officer suicide case, I would still suggest to dig deeper.

None of my business though, u've got to say what u've got to say in your blog.

Sher - I can get what you are trying to say. Though it is my blog, I don't indulge in denigrating someone. So I will explain.

You have taken the line from my reply to Koi, wherein I had witten "Not like Indian armed forces who are used ONLY for parade."

I had said USED and not that they are not capable of. In India, the army is controlled by political leadership who don't want to use them or rather use them for their OWN security and parades.

I was not even thinking of those scams while writing this post. As a common Indian tax payer, I see my money going in for maintaining these armed forces and yet they are not used for 'securing' living rights of average Indians. If they are of no use then why not disband them ? (Case in point Japan)

Please see in perspective. I have nothing to say about army. They can do all those trainings in their base camp as much as they like. They are not going to be used in real way by our political leadership.

    hey caution
    i love my president
he is the best president we have ever had
this country of mine goes 100 years back in terms of economy when the so called democratic ppl are in charge
it hurt the way u said it
and i love my army too. so dont such things. Think but dont say. thats 'moderation' :)

  • At 8:53 PM, Blogger greensatya said…

Koi - Hey seriously, I was not even sarcastic in that reply. I was honestly appreciating your President and your army.

I compared them with Indian leadership and Indian army and I am sure even you would agree that Indian government is wimp and wuss ? The best they can do is whine. Don't you agree Koi ? Would you like to be an Indian, if ever given a chance? I am sure your answer would be no.

Think from the view of an Indian, how they see what's their government is doing for them ? Zilch, Nada, nothing...

  • At 11:13 PM, Blogger Koi Pahailee said…

    well i get your point
but u should not say that zilch thing
    its not true

indian economy is growing fast and i must admit, i am impressed.
I mean I am working for a uk bank and its opertion processing is being shifted to india in totality,.
thats gr8. it means there are good ppl there who communicate and there is infrastructure. and there is a lot to see on media too.
overall, there are good acheivements considering its such a large populated country with such diversity.

as far as pakistani forgien policy towards India is concerned it doesnt change with democratic or military govt ...

even when so called "democratic" govt is working its the Army which is in control ...

i have watched some interviews of Pervez ... not really impressed with him ... he seems to be a puppet .. either in Mujahideen's hand's or western powers hands ... depending on the need

Perhaps he is the only leader Pakistan can lead there right now ... has to be from the army .. has to be a juggler ...

Indian Govt is made of WHIMPS. There is no doubt abt that.

  • At 8:41 PM, Blogger Koi Pahailee said…

    to Mowgli
everybody is a puppet in hands of western powers...
    wont you agree:)
and more so, its the western powers that make you feel important or unimportant based on how strategically important you are for them
India leads the show in this respect.
and as far as the Pakistani President goes, he is the best for two primary achievements. 1. he really communicates well with media and the western powers
    2. he has acheived considerable growth in economy.
plus the so called terror situation has never been better.

Koi - I don't give any value to India's economic prosperity, if it can't secure the life of its citizen. If one's life is not secure, what's the use of such development. I totally love the concept of Israel to protect its citizens, no matter what.

Mowgli - Yeah, Indian government is wimp. Koi, has replied to your observation about Pakistan's President.
